Boat parties, and how not to miss one
The only LA event format where being late means you do not get in at all.
A boat party is the only Los Angeles event format where being late means you do not get in at all. The boat leaves. There is no door to argue with and no re-entry, and that single fact should change how you plan the whole night.
We run these ourselves out of Long Beach, so this is written from the load-in side.
The boat does not wait
Every ticket lists two times, and people routinely read only one of them. Boarding opens first. Sailing is when the boat physically leaves the dock.
Boarding times vary by party, so check your ticket rather than assuming it matches the last one. What does not vary is the departure. We have to leave on time. A boat is not a venue with a flexible door, and if you are still parking when we sail, that is the night.
Treat the boarding time as the arrival time, not the deadline.
Getting there and parking
Ours run out of 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, in the Rainbow Harbour area rather than anywhere in central Los Angeles. Budget for the drive.
Parking at the aquarium is cheap and close, so driving is a reasonable option here in a way it often is not in Hollywood. Rideshare drop-off is straightforward too. Either way, the constraint is the sail time, not the traffic.
Age, ID and capacity
21 and over, and ID is checked. Bring it. There is no talking your way onto a boat.
Capacity is 400, fixed by the vessel rather than by a fire marshal, and every Inertia boat party has sold out. There is no door sale to fall back on. If you are waiting to decide, you are deciding not to go.
What is actually on board
Three floors, two DJ setups, and full bars. There is a taco stand on the roof, which is the detail everyone remembers and the reason the top deck stays busy all night.
Two setups across three floors means the music does not stop when a set changes, and you can move between rooms the way you would in a club, except the view keeps changing.
What to wear
It is colder on the water than on the dock, and colder again once the sun drops and the boat is moving. People underdress for this constantly. Bring a layer you are willing to carry all night, and wear shoes you can stand in on a moving deck for hours.

We run these several times across the summer. Dates go up on our events page before they go anywhere else, which given the sell-out record is the only reliable way to get on one.
